Ben Spannuth

Senior Associate

London

Ben is a Senior Associate in the Firm’s Construction, Engineering, and Infrastructure group, having trained and qualified with the Firm.

With a focus on contentious construction, Ben has acted for both claimants and defendants, and has experience of litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and alternative forms of dispute resolution / dispute avoidance. Ben regularly acts for contractors, structural engineers, architects, and their insurers, as well as water companies, on a wide range of construction disputes, both domestically and internationally.

Recent matters that Ben has been involved in include:

• advising a Tier 1 contractor in relation to adjudication proceedings arising out of a payment dispute and resulting enforcement proceedings;

• advising a design and build contractor in relation to the defence of a c.£32m building safety / fire safety claim arising out of the design and construction of a housing development;

• advising a design and build contractor in relation to a portfolio of building safety / fire safety claims arising out of the design and construction of various housing developments across the UK;

• advising a structural engineer in relation to a potential claim relating to a sinkhole at an office development in London; and

• advising various water companies in relation to potential claims under the Water Industry Act 1991.
